A Lincoln Park woman is alive thanks to the quick action of a neighbor.

You could call this guy a hero but he would not agree with you. Greg Kasper says he was just helping the folks next door, his neighbors, and his friends

"My neighbor, he just had surgery on his shoulder three days before and I told him, 'If you need anything give me a call,'" Kaspar said. And that call came sooner than he expected.

His neighbor's wife stopped breathing late Monday night.

"He started yelling out his door, 'Greg, help! Call 911!'"

Kaspar's wife and other neighbors dialed 911, but Greg sprang into action before first responders arrived. He ran across the street and began performing CPR on the woman who, by then, was unresponsive.

"So I did the cardio pulmonary resuscitation, just 30 compressions and she started breathing," he said. "She started breathing."

Paramedics arrived soon after and rushed Greg’s neighbor to a local hospital. She is alive and recovering in part because of Greg's efforts.

"It was a miracle. To me, it was a miracle," he said. "I feel so good.

Greg credits the CPR classes he's taken for reviving his neighbor. He says it's something everyone should learn, as you never know when you'll be in a position to help save someone's life.
