Neighbor says suspicious man seen in apartment hour before man found dead in Dearborn
DEARBORN, Mich. (FOX 2) - Police in Dearborn are investigating a suspicious death of a 26-year-old man found Monday morning inside of an apartment but a neighbor says he saw someone suspicious inside.
Police said 911 was called to a home on Appoline Street to a report of a possibly injured person. When they arrived around 7 a.m. Monday, police found a 26-year-old Marine City man dead.
A man who lives in the building says they'd been having trouble with people disconnecting the surveillance cameras. Around 6 a.m., he had a bizarre encounter and thinks that whoever has been disrupting the cameras may be connected to the man's death.
"Around 6 o'clock I went outside, I see a stranger guy in the door of the attic. I said what are you doing here? He said 'I think this is my friend's apartment'. I told him 'no, this is an attic, there is nothing here'," the neighbor said.
An hour later, the man was found dead.
The neighbor said he ran actually ran into two guys who didn't live in the building.
"I told him what you are doing upstairs? He told 'I'm so drunk, I'm sorry. I'm gonna move next week, blah blah blah, please don't tell the landlord'."
The man said he believes that stranger killed the man. He also said he thinks they may have been trying to stop the surveillance cameras from rolling.
The Dearborn Fire Department arrived first and gave the man CPR but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's cause of death is not known at this time.
Another neighbor, Ghalie Nehme, said there was a lot of commotion in the apartment before he was found dead. She said she didn't know the victim but has these words for whoever killed him.
"I hope they go to the hell," Nehme said.
The victim has been identified by police but his name is not being released.
"This loss of life is tragic and on behalf of the Dearborn Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the young man," said Police Chief Ronald Haddad.
