New father murdered in Detroit shooting that hit five people

Police in Detroit are still searching for the drive-by shooter who took aim at a group of people and killed a new father.

One person was killed and four others are hospitalized Thursday night around 8:35 p.m. in the 11000 block of Nashville Street.

The man killed was Javon Parker, a 26-year-old new father.  His sister, Jazmyn, is in a state of disbelief.

"What happened yesterday is not right," she said. "I'm speechless, I'm hurt, I'm furious. I need answers. I want to know why."

The gunman pulled up in an older Oldsmobile Alero and opened fire. A total of five people were hit by bullets, including Parker. The other four people shot are all in their 20s and survived the shooting.

It was a chaotic scne as family members tried to find out if their loved ones were shot.

"They were just hanging out. He was just chilling. Came to my cousin's house to chill with family," Jazmyn said.

Javon Parker just became a father and had been living with his girlfriend and their baby in Warren.

"They about to get engaged but they didn't let him. They took him before he could do anything. Who did it? Why? What was the reason?"

Police are looking at video from different homes and businesses near the area. They say they're searching for a dark Oldsmobile Alero.
