Oakland County Deputy hit by car sliding on ice

An Oakland County Deputy who was helping clear an accident due to icy conditions Tuesday was hit by another car who lost control on the ice.

The 37-year-old Deputy was at the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd and Pike St. to help clear multiple accidents in the area just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The deputy pulled up behind another patrol officer and was walking to the other car when he heard another car behind him sliding on the ice.

The Deputy turned and saw the car coming towards him but didn't have enough time to get out of the way. The car, a Chevy Impala, hit the deputy and then scraped the side of the patrol car.

The officer was knocked over the hood of the vehicle as the car kept sliding and eventually hit the other patrol vehicle. That's where it came to a stop.

The Deputy was taken to McLaren Emergency Care with a broken left hand and bruises and contusions on his side. Nobody else was hurt.

The driver, a 22-year-old Pontiac woman, was cited for driving too fast for the conditions.
