Officer injured when suspect t-boned his squad car

- Detroit police have a man in custody after a car crash and shooting with the suspect early Friday morning on the city's east side. An officer was injured in the accident when his unmarked squad car was t-boned by a man in a Dodge Charger.

Police say around 12:15 a.m., the officer saw two drivers chasing each other near Seven Mile and Mound roads, and a person inside the car was firing shots at the other car. The officer attempted to shop the vehicle, but the driver of the Charger t-boned the officer's car.

The suspect then jumped out, started to run away and pulled out a weapon. Police say the officer then pulled out his weapon, too, and fired two shots. The suspect was not hit.

The officer lost site of the suspect, but a witness told police the suspect was hiding in a car near their home. Police were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.
