One hospitalized after apartment fire at Fraser Manor Apartments

One person was sent to the hospital Monday morning after being injured in an apartment fire in Fraser.

Authorities say a fire started just after 6 a.m. at the Fraser Manor Apartments on Fraser Drive, which is near Masonic and Utica.

Fraser Fire Lt. Mike Pettyes tells us a man and his mother, who has special needs, were able to escape the fire. We're told the son was able to pick up his mother and carry her out of the burning building, but sustained burns to his hands in the process. He was transported to the hospital.

Authorities aren't sure right now what started the fire.

At least four units have been damaged, and two are considered unliveable.

We're told the Salvation Army will be on scene assisting those who have been affected.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.
