One man dead in Detroit double shooting, home raided just days before

- The Detroit Police Department is investigating a double deadly shooting on the city's east side after the killer knocked and then opened fire a house full of people that police say was raided just a few days ago.

Detroit police said they were called to the 14400 block of Parkgrove on the city's side just before 5:30 Monday morning. Detroit Police Captain Mark Patterson said the shooter knocked to get someone to open the door.

"There was a knock at the door the occupants responded as if they knew who was knocking and gunfire took place," Patterson said.

Two men were shot, one in his 50s was shot in the cehst and the other in his 30s was hit in the neck. The younger man later died from the shooting.

Two other people inside the home at the time of the shooting were not hurt. After the shooting stopped, those inside ran out frantically to track down drivers for help.

The victims said this was a robbery and police said they're looking into that. However, police also said they believe drugs could have played a role.

"There is a strong possibility there may be drugs maybe involved. Just a little background on the house: we know it was raided in the last couple of days so we believe there may be some connection there as well," Patterson said.

A K-9 unit was brought in to try and track suspects but couldn't find anything. Investigators were also tipped off to  an abandoned home a couple of blocks away. They found a man there but said he's not connected.

Captain Patterson said they hope leads will help them narrow in on the shooter.

"We still live in a society where there is a no stitch mentality and we are trying to change that," Patterson said. "We have to realize the only way we are going to curtail the violence or stop the violence is by telling on those responsible."

Police do not have a detailed description of the suspect and are asking for anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
