One person is dead and four others wounded in an east side shooting Friday night.

Detroit police are at the scene of Gratiot between Loretto and Whithorn, where a man was fatally shot outside a car wash. Police say  four other people may have been wounded.

Police are looking for the suspect described as a tall and thin black male in his early 20s, about 6 foot 4. 185 pounds running westbound between the houses.

He was wearing a dark colored hoodie with possibly the white strings coming out of it, blue jeans and wheat colored Timberland boots.

"Four of the victims are critical in the hospital," said Capt. Eric Decker of Detroit police. "One unfortunately did not make it.

"We believe he came up and just started shooting."

Gratiot has been shut down in both directions as police investigate.

A second shooting on Meade Street in a robbery attempt left two people wounded Friday night.
