(WJBK) - Two women charged with killing an O'Reilly Auto Parts store manager during a robbery pleaded guilty Friday morning.
Shawnta Sharee Anderson, 23, and Eboni Monae McEwen-Ross, 28, each pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, while armed robbery charges were dismissed.
On Nov. 1, 2017, 23-year-old Shawnta Anderson is accused of entering an O'Reilly Auto Parts Store in the 16800 block of Schaefer in Detroit and pointing a handgun at an employee, ordering him to get on the floor. She then allegedly ordered another employee to open the register.
Then the store manager, James Haller Junior, came from the back of the store, and one of the women shot him in the head with a handgun, killing him.
A third suspect, 39-year-old Leviticus Butler, is charged with one count of accessory after the fact, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years.
Haller was a retired General Motors employee who took on the job at O'Reilly Auto Parts to keep busy. He was also a Vietnam veteran who always tried to protect others.
"Words can't describe how I feel. They took my father away from me. He raised me. He raised other kids in the neighborhood. All-around good man," his son, James Haller III said. "He was on his way home. He camr out the back, and that happens."
