Two Detroit police officers suffered minor injuries in a hit-and-run accident Monday morning on the city's west side.

The accident took place around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Greenfield and Eaton roads. A black Honda CRV that appeared to have been going between 80 and 100 mph slammed into a police car from behind, throwing the car into the grass. The SUV landed far across the street and plowed through a fence.

Witnesses said the DPS officer in the passenger seat appeared dazed but was able to get out and call for help.

According to police on scene, two officers were in the car and one was taken to the hospital. The passenger and driver in the front seat of the car that caused the accident ran off from the scene. A female passenger remained at the scene.

The two male officers, Alfonzo Harrison and Tim Walsh were hospitalized, one with a gash to his forehead. The 68-year-old woman was hospitalized for her injuries and is in serious condition.
