Peace rally in memory of murdered 3-year-old

A community came together Thursday morning, calling for an end to the senseless violence in Detroit. This comes after a 3-year-old girl was shot and killed.

Local religious leaders, police officers and other members of the community were at the rally outside House of Help on Detroit's west side to show support to A'Naiya Montgomery's family.

She was killed when someone barged into a home in the 16,800 block of Riverview on Easter Sunday. She was sleeping next to her mother when she was shot two times.

Two other men inside the home were also injured, one of them critically.

Police currently have one person in custody.

A'Naiya's family spoke at the peace rally, saying they find comfort in the support from the community.

"Three days prior to this, she was at my house and she was running around with my children, which are her cousins. She was eating chips and candy with a smile, and somebody took her from us," a family member told FOX 2's Robin Murdoch.

If you'd like to donate to A'Naiya's family to help pay for her funeral, you can do so in a couple ways. The first, is to make a donation at any Flagstar Bank under A'Naiya Montgomery's name. You can also make a donation via the family's GoFundMe account.

The community is also planning a peace walk for Friday night, April 1, starting at 6 p.m. outside the House of Help.
