Police ask for help identifying suspects in 2 separate Detroit crimes

- Detroit police are asking for the public's assistance identifying suspects in two separate crimes in the city.

On July 18, a male suspect approached the female victim and asked for a cigarette at 11:25 a.m. in the area of Van Dyke and Savage.

When the female responded that she did not have a cigarette, the suspect took the phone from her hand and fled the scene.

She chased after him but he was able to get away in an older model gold or tan colored sedan.

The victim was not hurt in the incident.

On July 19, two male suspects were walking down the street in the 19100 block of West McNichols around 9:30 p.m.

They approached a male victim who was walking in their direction.

One of the suspects shot and killed the victim.

Police do not yet know what the motive was.

The suspects were captured by a Project Green Light camera, but the incident did not take place at a Project Green Light Location.
