Police investigate death of baby in Warren; 1 parent in custody

The Warren Police Department is investigating the death of an 8-month-old child at an apartment in Warren.

First responders were called out to Warren Place Apartments on Dequindre Thursday afternoon.

Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said the baby's death is suspicious, and one parent is in custody.

A neighbor tells us he heard the baby's mother screaming downstairs. He says the baby was in the hallway and wasn't breathing, so he started CPR.

"She's like, 'I gave him bread and some milk then I ran him some bath water.' Then it was kind of strange because the water was overfilling," the neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, told us.

It's not clear right now how the baby died, but police were investigating the death as a suspicious drowning.
