Police investigate street shootout in Eastpointe neighborhood

Police are investigating after they say a shootout happened in the middle of the street in an Easpointe neighborhood.

The shooting happened around 6 a.m. Friday in the area of Tuscany and Lincoln avenues, which is near the intersection of Toepfer Drive and Kelly Road.

Police were called to the scene and didn't find any victims, but they say evidence shows it appeared to have been a gun battle between two people in the middle of the street. Several rounds had been fired and nearby homes and cars had been hit.

"At first I heard two pops and it woke me up," one neighbor told FOX 2's Josh Landon. "Then all of a sudden - five in a row! And I woke up and I saw the car speeding down the road."

Police believe this started as a domestic violence situation and escalated from there. A woman was also hit by a car in the area and police believe that is connected to the shooting.

That woman is in the hospital although her condition is unknown at this time.

Police are continuing to look for the two shooters.
