Police looking for driver of car that crashed during chase

Police are looking for a suspect that escaped a police chase after it ended with a car crash early Monday morning.

The crash happened along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near University of Detroit Mercy's dental campus around 4:30 a.m. It's not know at this time why police were pursuing the suspect.

We're told the suspect was driving an older model Grand Marquis, and that the suspect crashed the vehicle into a metal fence. The vehicle has front-end damage and the air bag deployed, but the suspect was able to get out of the car and run away from the scene.

Police aren't sure if any passengers were in the car that would have also gotten away.
