A popular cut through street on the west side of Detroit became the scene of a deadly hit and run.

"I heard there was a guy crossing the street and the guy just ran him over and kept on going," said Walter Morgan who lives in the neighborhood.

Walter Morgan witnessed the aftermath when a 44-year-old man was hit at Indiana and Eaton last Saturday at 2 a.m. in the morning.

"They didn't stop to see if he was okay or needed help," Morgan said.

On Friday Detroit Police released surveillance video hoping to catch the driver of a dark gray 2004 to 2011 Dodge Durango, seen in the area at that time and could be involved.

The stop sign has turned into a memorial - but even before the balloons and flowers - it was just a suggestion.

FOX 2 even saw it as a truck plowed through the stop sign and kept going paying no attention to our photojournalist.

"People don't pay attention to the stop sign they go right through it like it's not even there," said Morgan.

Morgan has lived there for 50 years and has seen a lot of accidents out front.  There are a lot of walkers around here - but the drivers don't seem to slow down.

"Instead of doing 10 or 25 miles per hour they are doing 30 or 40," Morgan said.
