Police: Romulus couple dead from murder-suicide

ROMULUS, Mich. (WJBK) - A Romulus couple is found dead in their apartment Thursday afternoon, police say it is a case of murder-suicide.

Family members said that they have an idea of what happened.

Grieving families huddled outside the apartment where maintenance found the bodies of 24-year-old Alicia Evans and 24-year-old Jeffrey Jackson in their apartment on Wayne Road near Metro Airport.

The couple lived at the Barrington Apartments. Their families say they've been in a relationship for approximately five years. 

A family member of Alicia said she told them she was planning to tell Jackson she was breaking off the relationship and leaving him.

No one had any contact with Alicia or Jeffrey for more than a day. Police remove evidence from the couple's apartment and investigators are calling this a murder suicide.

Police are not indicating the aggressor but they say there is no one else responsible and they're not looking for anyone else. 

"A lot of people loved him, he was a hard worker," said Noel Scott, Jackson's step-father. "He never missed a day's work. He never came and asked us for anything."

Jeffrey Jackson's mother and step-father rushed to the apartment after getting the crushing news. They said Jackson was known as a successful rapper in Detroit.

"He was a rapper, a producer around different places in Detroit," said Jennifer Noel, Jackson's mother.

Alicia Evans was employed by General Motors. Her mother Tanya Edison said Alicia texted or called every day and when she didn't hear from her today she developed a pit in her stomach.

"I was at work," Edison said. "(I was worried) because I hadn't heard from her. We text each other every morning. I haven't heard from her since yesterday morning. When I Ieft work, came out and asked if someone could go in and check  to see if she was okay.

"She was full of life, she loved her nieces and nephews. Very hard worker, very good sister to her siblings."

The Wayne County Medical Examiner still needs to rule on the manner of death but police say their investigation points toward murder suicide.
