Employee arrested after firing shots during argument over golfer's beer cans

An employee at a golf course in Pontiac has been arrested after authorities say he pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot during a fight with a customer.

The fight broke out at Heather Highlands Golf Course on Holly Road on Saturday, September 16 just after 4 p.m. Police say the fight began when the employee confronted the golfer about his empty beer cans, and that the golfers possibly brought their own alcohol onto the course, which is not permitted.

Police say the argument escalated when the employee pulled out a gun from his waistband and discharged a round, and possibly two more. Several patrons then attacked the employee to get the gun away.

EMS arrived on scene and treated the employee for some injuries. After receiving medical care, the 45-year-old employee was taken to the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.

Police didn't specify the suspect's injuries.

Charges are pending.
