PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) - Authorities are asking for the public's help locating a suspected shooter who escaped from police custody over the weekend.
Larry Emery, 38, was being questioned about his alleged involvement in a shooting at a bar in Pontiac, and was able to somehow escape the interview room where he was being held.
Authorities say a man and a woman were shot at Duckett's Sports Bar and Grill in Pontiac early Sunday morning.
Police say the man who was shot told them he was shot by someone he knew from prison, and that the two had just recently been paroled. The victim told police there was an ongoing feud between he and Emery, and that when Emery saw him at the bar he pulled out a gun and fired two rounds.
Police say one of the rounds struck the man, and the other struck the woman. The woman is still being hospitalized for her injuries but is expected to be okay. The male victim has since been released from the hospital.
Police say Emery took off from the bar after the shooting, but was arrested later on Sunday by the Oakland County Apprehension Team. Authorities say that's when he was somehow able to escape custody.
Emery was seated in the interview room waiting to be transported to the Oakland County Jail when he escaped.
Detectives heard a noise come from an area near the interview room and went to investigate. Detectives found that the suspect was missing from the interview room and began to look for Emery, but couldn't find him.
Anyone with information on on Emery's location is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. A reward is being offered of up to $2,500 for information leading to his arrest and you will remain anonymous.
An internal investigation is ongoing on how he was able to escape the interview room.
