Oakland Co. deputy saves young woman who overdosed on heroin after breakup
(WJBK) - Oakland County officials saved a 21-year-old woman overdosing on heroin after taking the drug to cope with a breakup.
Police say a deputy spotted a vehicle going the wrong direction down Woodward at Perry Street in Pontiac and attempted to pull them over using lights and sirens.
The driver did not stop, but instead pointed his figure wildly out of the window and continued to drive.
Finally stopping at McLaren Hospital, the driver and passenger jumped out and yelled their friend in the backseat was overdosing on heroin.
Police say the woman was gray in color and had labored breathing. The deputy gave her Narcan, which failed the first time. After a second dose, she began to breathe more regularly.
She was transported to the ER on the other side of the building.
Police say she told them that she had friends drive her from the ferry dock in St. Ignace to Pontiac so she could use heroin, hoping to cope with her depression over her break-up with her boyfriend. She had previously been in rehab.
Police are still investigating the incident.
