Pregnant hotel clerk robbed at gunpoint in Roseville on camera

ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) - A terrifying scene inside a hotel in Roseville when a man robbed the place at gunpoint.

Inside the lobby, a pregnant clerk, as well as a mother and her 13-year-old-daughter. Police have released surveillance pictures. 

Roseville police say he robbed a pregnant motel front desk clerk at gunpoint at about 1 a.m. Thursday at the Microtel Inn on 13 Mile near I-94.

Tammy and her 13-year-old daughter Kaylee were in the lobby at the time. They say he walked in with a gas can and said something about his car breaking down. He left.

"Then he came in with his gun and cocked it back," said Tammy. 

It was a semi-automatic handgun and he demanding cash from the register. Standing right next to him was 13-year-old Kaylee was standing right next to him.

"It scared the life out of me," Kaylee said. "My heart dropped, I almost fell on the floor."

Kaylee's mother had one simple request for the gunman.

"Can my daughter come sit next to me, go sit next to her mother," said Tammy “So I grabbed her, put her head down on my lap and covered her head," 

"You going to pull a gun out on a 13-year-old girl," said James, Kaylee's father.

Kaylee's father is incredibly angry

"I was just in the lobby, I got a phone call that they were just robbed at the gunpoint," James said.

Police aren't saying how much money the gunman got away. He is 5 feet, 6 inches, he has some bottom teeth missing and the pictures released by police are pretty clear.

"One is actually very good quality," said Deputy Chief Ryan Monroe, Roseville police.
