Protestors call for MSP director's resignation, answers in teen's Taser/ATV death

Local activists and community members have organized a march at Michigan State Police Headquarters on Monday afternoon in light of recent controversial events.

The protest is meant to demand justice for a teen killed on his ATV in August while being pursued by an officer, as well as call for the resignation of Col. Kriste Etue for a Facebook post.

Police say 15-year-old Demond Grimes was killed while fleeing police on an ATV in Detroit. Investigators revealed that the trooper chasing the teen deployed a Taser during the pursuit, which hit the boy while he was driving the four-wheeler prior to the crash.

His family has filed a $50 million dollar lawsuit against the MSP trooper. There was a similar protest against the incident held Sept. 1.

In the MSP director case, the message Etue shared on Facebook called NFL players protesting during the national anthem "degenerates."

It calls the players "millionaire ingrates who hate America and disrespect our armed forces and veterans." The posting signed "we the people" also calls the protesters "rich, entitled, ungrateful."
