(WJBK) - Detroit's Kid Rock teased on Wednesday that he may be primed for Senate run in 2018.
Many people are wondering if this is really about a Senate race or selling an album? To let Kid Rock tell it, he's running to unseat Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
He tweeted the link for what appears to be a campaign website with the statement: "I have had a ton of emails and texts asking me if this website is real. The answer is an absolute yes."
And if you head to kidrockforsenate.com, you can buy campaign shirts, hats, bumper stickers and yard signs.
FOX 2: "Kid Rock for Senate? Do you buy this?"
"Well, I can't imagine him doing this for any other reason than wanting to legitimately wanting to pursue the opportunity," said Karen Dumas.
Karen Dumas is a radio host, political insider and Kid Rock's close friend.
"I know that he's always been interested in and concerned about making a difference for people," she said. "And maybe he thought this is the best way to do it.
"I'm not convinced that he's in the race," said Republican Senate candidate Lena Epstein. "This is potentially a media spectacle. But in the end, if Kid Rock is truly going to be in the race I would love to campaign with him side by side all summer long to unseat Sen. Stabenow."
As Kid Rock flirts with a Senate campaign, former State House Majority Leader Rocky Raczkowski points to signs that suggest the rock star won't commit.
"If you go all the way down to the 'contact us' page its all Warner Brothers," he said. "We look for disclaimers. There hasn't been any paperwork filed."
