Puppies and Pilates raises money for Almost Home animal rescue

Some four-legged friends help their human companions get a new "leash" on their fitness routine.

It's all part of an effort to raise money for an animal rescue group.

"They contacted us and we love Pilates, it is our favorite thing in the world," said Gail Montgomery, Almost Home Animal Rescue League.

So Gail Montgomery, one of the founders of the Almost Home Animal Rescue League, didn't hesitate when Club Pilates in Beverly Hills wanted to host Puppies and Pilates - a fitness fundraiser for the no kill shelter - and a chance to check out the new and improved Pilates studio.

"The puppies do not know how to do Pilates or at least we don't know that don't know," said Amy Warner, from Club Pilates.

Manager Amy Warner helped organize the event that had an overwhelming response.

"We are just asking that everyone has a minimum $10 cash donation," she said. "Most have offered more and some are bringing physical items to donate. We had so many people interested, we actually had to open another class."

What more can you ask for, some puppy love, a good workout and maybe meet a new part of your family.

"They are all up for adoption," said Montgomery. "We have a lot of little and big dogs. This is Maddie and she is looking for her forever home."

Almost Home rescued Maddie from a kill shelter. The rescue league refuses to euthanize - which means the donations are desperately needed especially in the summer months.

Any amount is appreciated and if you would like to take home a forever friend, all you have to do, is fill out an application.

"I love this place," Montgomery said. "I have so many people who come here. It seems everybody here loves animals how can you not?"
