A woman is the victim of a purse-snatcher and lost a priceless memento.

She's hoping surveillance video taken at the BP gas station at Outer Drive and Harper near I-94, will catch the thief.

On security video Vonda Jefferson can be seen getting out of her Chevrolet Traverse to get a bottle of pop at a gas station. She leaves the purse on the back seat on the floor of her SUV, gets out and goes inside.

Then a white car slides in and backs up beside her SUV. He gets out wearing his blue shirt and white ball cap and walks up to the driver's door. He looks inside the gas station, then looks around the parking lot, and then gets busy picking the door lock.

"I go in and get the pop, I hear an alarm," Jefferson said. "I said that's not my alarm. I get to the door and it's my alarm. I looked and didn't see anything, and clicked my alarm off and went back inside to pay for it."

When the guy triggered the car alarm he crouched down and in her SUV grabbing her purse then driving off in his white sedan.

"I come out to my car, and it is still locked," she said. "I get into it, look for my purse and it's gone."

She lost $6 bucks in the purse, credit cards, debit card and personal checks but the most valuable personal item she simply cannot live without? Jefferson's late mother's Michigan driver's license.

"The most sentimental thing is that my mom passed last year," she said. "And I had her ID; I would really like my ID back. Everything else, I really don't even care. I would love my mom's license back."

Now if this guy is watching himself on Fox 2 right now?  Vonda Jefferson has a message for you.

"How about get a job and get your own things," she said. "I work every day and you can too."
