WATCH: Woody Woodriffe with Justin Upton

-  The Detroit Tigers have made a free agent splash while adding a jolt to its lineup.

Justin Upton signed a six-year deal for a reported $132 million, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.  Tigers General Manager Al Avila and Owner Mike Ilitch pushed for the signing.

The deal includes an opt-out clause after two years, but his agent, Larry Reynolds, stressed it wasn't put in the contract to be used.

The deal upgrades the Tigers' lineup, with Upton, 28, batting .251 with 26 home runs and 81 RBIs for the San Diego Padres. He is a three-time all-star and likely the new starter in left field.

Upton will wear #8.
