Rivalry week: MSU's Magic Johnson statue tagged by U-M fans

Rivalry week is a big deal. For the first time in a while, both Michigan and Michigan State enter Saturday's game ranked in the top 15. Now, someone supporting the Maize and Blue has tagged a statue at Michigan State.

The Magic Johnson statue outside the Breslin Center was spray painted with a Maize M on his chest and the words "Beat State" on the bottom of the 12 foot tall statue.

The paint is likely in retaliation to last year's Michigan State spray painting when fans added the letters S and U to the bronze M at the university of Michigan.

The statue was dedicated in 2003 to commemorate Magic's role on the Spartans' championship team in 1979.

Michigan and Michigan state play Saturday at 3:30 on ESPN.
