Oakland County Sheriffs Office detectives made an arrest in a recent indecent exposure case at a Rochester Hills Meijer.

The suspect is identified as 35-year-old Daniel Alfredo Torres-Rivas who was living in Pontiac. Upon taking him into custody, he provided an El Salvador passport as means of identification. No prior criminal history could be found for Daniel Torres-Rivas.

According to ICE, Daniel Torres-Rivas is in the United States illegally. He was confirmed to be from El Salvador and was denied a Visa. ICE agents placed a detainer on Daniel Torres-Rivas to begin the deportation process.

Photos of Rivas were released last week after a woman claimed he illegally flashed her and masturbated in front of her at a Rochester Hills Meijer.

On August 20, 2016, the case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office who issued a warrant for Aggravated Indecent Exposure. Aggravated Indecent Exposure is a misdemeanor offense which carries a maximum penalty of up to two (2) years in state prison as well as a fine of up to $2000. Daniel Torres-Rivas was arraigned in front of Magistrate Walden and given a $1,000 personal bond.

Detectives received a tip on Aug. 19  from an Oakland County resident who saw the story on a local news broadcast and recognized the suspect. The resident further told detectives the suspect lives at a home on Crittenden Street in the City of Pontiac.

Detectives went to the address and were unable to locate the suspect.  A short time later, Detectives received a phone call from an attorney representing the suspect and he turned himself in. He was arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail for Aggravated Indecent Exposure.

"I find it completely disgusting and sad that this individual, who is illegally in our country, felt comfortable enough here to harass a woman in a very public store by masturbating to completion," said Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard. "I thank the tipster who helped us lock up this sick pervert."

On August 22, 2016, Daniel Torres-Rivas was picked up from the Oakland County Jail by ICE Agents on charges of entering the county illegally and he is currently in Federal custody.
