Roommate suspected of stabbing man to death in Warren

One person has died after a stabbing at a home in Warren early Friday morning, Warren police tell FOX 2.

The stabbing happened at an apartment in the 11,000 block of Rivard Avenue, which is just north of 8 Mile Road near Hoover Road. We're told four people lived in the apartment, and that two of the roommates heard arguing. They found their other two male roommates in a different room, and one was standing over the other holding a knife.

We're told the victim, who has been identified Andrew Logsdon, was stabbed 5-8 times. The 23-year-old suspect was taken into custody and also to the hospital, after he got into a fight with the other roommate who was trying to get him to put down the knife. The suspect is okay and remains in police custody.

"This is our first fatality homicide of the year. As I indicated earlier to you, last year we only had two [homicides] and in 2014 we had four. But, anytime there's a homicide, a death of anybody, particularily a young person or what have you, it's disturbing and of concern," Warren Mayor Jim Fouts told FOX 2.

The stabbing happened around 6:15 a.m. Friday.

Charges are still pending.
