Severe Thunderstorms roll through SE Michigan
(WJBK) - Severe thunderstorms rolled across metro Detroit Friday night. warnings issued for most of the area.
The National Weather Service had issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Oakland, Wayne and Washtenaw counties which expired at 8:30 p.m.
A second round of strong storms were seen on radar at 9:40 p.m. moving into the region bringing with it heavy rainfall. FOX 2's Maria Molina has details in the video above.
Flood Advisories remain in effect for Wayne and Washtenaw counties until 10:30 p.m.
At 7:16 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Livonia, moving southeast at 20 mph with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Hail was reported by viewers around the area, including in the video above, posted by viewer Andrew Coutelle from Romeo on the FOX 2 Facebook page. In a second video, Terra Lee King shared a hail video in Washington Michigan, in what looked like snow.
The Flood Advisory is for the following communities: Ann Arbor, Livonia, Taylor, Romulus, Ypsilanti, Flat Rock, Saline, Milan, Grosse Pointe, Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Downtown Detroit, Detroit, Canton, Dearborn, Wyandotte, Trenton, Grosse Ile and Northville.
Some power outages have been reported in northern Macomb County as well as farther west in Milford and Whitmore Lake. DTE reports about 9,000 customers in the New Baltimore area are without power and 19,000 customers state-wide are out. Strong storms on the west side of the state has led to Consumer's Energy having 110,000 customers in the dark.
