Source: Michigan Rep. Miller approached for speaker role

Congresswoman Candice Miller has been approached for the role of interim Speaker of the House, a source has confirmed to FOX 2.

Miller, who will not be seeking re-relection in 2016, represents Michigan's 10th District, which includes part of the Detroit Metro area but is mostly made up of the thumb.

Miller was elected to Congress in 2003 but said in the spring that she would not seek re-election.

The role of Speaker of the House opened up Friday when John Boehner (R-OH) surprisingly announced his resignation from his position in the House of Representatives.
