Southfield neighborhood gets socked by Wednesday's storm

- Wednesday night, just as people were calling it a night, some residents in Southfield were just hoping everything turned out okay.

It was about 10 p.m. when things got real loud in Southfield, specifically in a tiny area near Nine Mile and Evergreen. Limbs ripped from trees, trees snapped and twisted, and fires sparked by power lines.

The good news? Nobody was seriously hurt.

"I heard a big Cha-boom, and I look down and I had a tree in my house," said Ervin Coty.

Irving's laughing now but, he says for about five minutes Wednesday night, around 10 o'clock, a lot of storm damage was done here in Southfield.

The damage was concentrated in one area of Southfield.

"It was isolated right here between Nine Mile and Evergreen, east of Evergreen, probably within a four or five block radius," said Leo Clower, Southfield's forester.

Luckily no one was hurt. But it was scary.

Jackie said she saw fire from storm.

"Fire from the wire or from over there," she said. "I took the kids inside and I took cover."
