(WJBK) - The State is accepting applications for new medical marijuana businesses.
The Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs is accepting applications for all license types - grower, processor, secure transporter, provisioning center and safety compliance facility licenses. The licenses will allow businesses to legally grow, process, transport or sell marijuana to patients who have their medical cards.
The application is for serious inquiries only; there's a $6,000 application fee. You can apply online, via mail or in person.
The medical marijuana business will become fully regulated next year and is expected to generate $711 million in sales and $21 million in tax revenues for the state.
For those who will apply, applications will be accepted online.
To get the application, visit Michigan.gov/BMMR. Many of the application forms will need to be printed, notarized, and uploaded. Payment for the application fee may be made online by credit card or electronic check.
Applicants who are interested in applying in person may do so at the Ottawa Building in downtown Lansing during normal business hours beginning at 8:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.
More information on the application can be found online here.
