Stolen U-Haul high-speed chase leaves officers hurt, cruisers damaged

A high-speed chase involving a stolen U-Haul truck left three officers hurt and two police cruisers damaged early Wednesday morning.

The chase took place down I-94 around 1 a.m. Wednesday after police attempted to stop the U-Haul for equipment violations. The driver refused to stop and drove about 60 mph.

Despite having crashed into two of patrol cars near Moross Road, the driver exited the interstate and crashed into a tree along Lakeshore Drive in Grosse Point shores. Injuries included two troopers and a Macomb County sheriff’s deputy, who received minor bruises.

The two men in the U-Haul were taken into custody. The U-Haul had been stolen from a dealership in Taylor, Mich.
