Student hospitalized, hit by car while riding bike to school

A student has been hospitalized after being hit by a car while riding a bike to school Friday morning. The accident happened outside Troy High School around 7 a.m. at Northfield Parkway and Perrin.

The driver initially drove away from the scene, leaving the student on the side of the road. Police were able to track the driver and the white SUV down, and arrested him or her at a nearby home a short while later. Police sources tell us the driver was driving without a valid license.

We're told the 17-year-old student is in critical but stable condition.
