WEB UPDATE (5 p.m.): The victim has been identified as Frederick Ricardo Brown, according to law enforcement.

Authorities are investigating after a man was shot and killed by authorities in Warren Thursday afternoon.

Michigan State Police say the suspect was wanted on a first-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct Charge. U.S. Marshals and two officers from a fugitive apprehension team approached the suspect outside an apartment complex near Martin and Hoover roads.

MSP says a shoot-out then occurred between the suspect and law enforcement just before 1 p.m. No officers were hit.

"He was walking toward the party store, and our unit confronted him. He put his hands up as he was going to stop. Ended up dropping his hands and going for his weapon, started firing rounds at our officers," said Mark Jankowski of the U.S. Marshals' Office.

The officers from the U.S. Marshals' Office, Detroit police and the Michigan Department Of Corrections were not hurt.

The suspect, however, was killed in the shooting.

"He was laying right there on the sidewalk. The firetruck pulled up and they did CPR on him," said Earl Grobbell, a witness.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"It was very scary. I mean you're seeing all these cops everywhere and you're wondering," said Katie Darragh, a witness.

Especially after the police shooting Wednesday night in Detroit.

"That's the first thing I thought of -- was there another cop shooting," Darragh said.

The car was shot at as well as the driver inside, but he was unharmed.

"It was unbelievable," Grobbell said.

SkyFOX flew over the scene, where several bullet casing markers could be seen on the ground in the shared parking lot of Buscemi's and Family Video. Traffic may be backed up in the area as authorities investigate.
