Suspect out on bond for shooting at Detroit police cuts tether

DETROIT (WJBK) - A man who was awaiting trial for his role a shooting involving multiple Detroit Police officers is now on the run after police say he removed his tether.

Detroit police said Ivory Traylor III removed his tether on Friday at the Lodge and Wyoming in the city.

Traylor is accused of shooting at as many as three shots at Detroit Police Officers in May 2017 at a hotel near downtown. The officers then returned fire, hitting the man.

He was given a $100,000 cash or surety bond. He posted bond and was placed on a tether. He removed that tether at 9:30 Friday morning, police said.

Traylor is a 31-year old black male, medium brown complexion, black hair, brown eyes, 5'11, 180 lbs. He may be using a cane.

Back in May 2017, someone called police for a man acting erratically at Orleans Street and Jefferson Avenue. The man ran away from police and out into traffic on Jefferson Avenue, where he was slightly struck by a vehicle. The man kept his hand in his pocket while he was running.

Police said at the time that the suspect had been arrested several times before for drugs.

In 2014 he was charged in a homicide, but the case was dropped due to a lack of evidence.
