Suspected Metro Detroit thieves arrested after police chase and crash

Three suspects were arrested and hospitalized in serious condition Monday night after a police chase ended in a roll over in Southfield.

Metro South Post troopers were contacted around 9 p.m. about suspects who may have stolen tires and rims.

Police say undercover units followed the suspect in Royal Oak and observed them attempted to break into vehicles.

They began to conduct a traffic stop near Lincoln and Campbell roads. One vehicle stopped, but the other struck a Metro South patrol car.

Police chased the suspects to Southfield, where suspects lost control of the vehicle, struck a cement barrier and overturned near Greenfield and 9 Mile roads.

One suspect was ejected at impact and the other was trapped under the overturned vehicle.

Police say after troopers were able to rescue the suspect, both were sent to a local hospital and are listed in temporary serious condition.

There were no reported trooper injuries, but a patrol car suffered minor damage by the suspects' vehicle.

According to police, the suspects were wanted for several thefts in Metro Detroit and assaulting officers in Canton Township.
