Suspected shooter in fatal O'Reilly robbery in Detroit arrested
DETROIT (WJBK) - A woman is under arrest suspected of killing a man during a robbery at an O'Reilly auto parts store in Detroit.
Shawnta Anderson, the 23-year-old woman police say pulled the trigger is now in custody. One step closer to bringing justice to James Haller's family who is still reeling from his cold hearted murder. Anderson was caught in the 6000 block of Colfax.
"Our work is still far from done," said Cmdr. Elaine Bryant, Detroit police. "We are still looking for our second suspect, Eboni Mcewen. I am going to implore if she's watching or anyone in her family is watching, that she turn herself in. We are not going to stop looking for you and we will find you.
"We want to make sure we bring justice to this family and bring justice to the victim."
Earlier this evening, before the arrest, FOX 2 was able to talk to James Haller's son who is still coming to grips with the loss.
"I won't get those morning phone calls I would get from my daddy 'Boy what are you doing, I was just calling to check on you to see if you're alright,'" said Christopher Pasha.
It's the little things Christopher pasha says he will miss the most from his dad James Haller Jr. The 75-year-old GM retiree and Vietnam vet had been managing the O'Reilly Auto Parts store in Detroit.
"He worked because he enjoyed it," Pasha said. "It gave him something to do, he didn't like to sit idle."
Until last Wednesday - when two women entered the store looking to rob the place. Haller caught them as they were trying to clear out the cash register. Anderson allegedly fired a single shot that struck the father of six in the head.
"You cut short memories that I don't have anymore," Pasha said. "I have to live off memories, I can't create any new ones. That is the only thing I have been thinking about."
Detroit police were actively searching for the alleged gunwoman 23-year-old Shawnta Anderson, arrested her near Colfax and Milford.
Investigators now looking for her accused partner in crime 28-year-old Eboni Mcewen-ross. They believe she may have fled to Ohio because she has family there.
"When you get caught and you are in trial don't try to apologize because you'll be wasting your time," Pasha said.
Christopher is going through old pictures remembering all his father taught him and how he was always there for him and now as they prepare for the funeral knowing all of that taken away for a few extra dollars.
"Of course I am going to miss learning from him," he said. "There are still thing left he had to teach me, things I was going to pick up from him. Now I can't do that."
A $12,500 reward was being offered for information that led to the arrest of the suspects. O'Reilly Auto Parts said they will pay a $10,000, and Crime Stoppers offered a $2,500 reward. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or Detroit police at (313) 596-5200.
