Suspects damage Macomb Twp. bank with pellet gun

Police are searching for a man accused of damaging an ATM and the windows of a Macomb Township bank with a pellet gun.

Clear surveillance images show the face of a young man with a pellet gun the moment he pulled up to Comerica Bank in Macomb Township and opened fire on an ATM and some of the windows.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says the department has been getting lots helpful tips since posting the images to Facebook.

"Reviewing their surveillance video of the ATM machine, which all ATM machines have surveillance video, indicated these kids pulled up, pointed the gun and shot it," Wickersham said.

The images are not so clear of the female in the passenger seat and another male in the back. The vehicle they were in is described as a light-colored Ford Fusion with damage to the trunk and lid.

The sheriff says they vandalized the bank last week on Sunday located at 26 Mile and Romeo Plank roads. He says an arrest warrant is coming for the man holding the pellet gun.

"Our detectives are working on putting their case together and presenting that to the prosecutor's office to get a warrant," Wickersham said. "Additional warrants will probably be coming for the people that were in the car that were involved in it."

Sheriff Wickersham says some of the suspects may be underage.

"Obviously they're going around damaging property. And you go on up to a bank or ATM, if you don't know, you're going to know now that there's cameras in there, and that should deter you from trying to commit any crime," he said.

The sheriff says the suspects will likely face misdemeanors for malicious destruction of property. They could face even harsher charges, if deputies find they were shooting other peoples' property somewhere else.
