Target at Eastland Center is closed due to a bomb threat

Police are currently working an active bomb threat scene at the Target Store at Eastland Center in Harper Woods.

Police say the store received a bomb threat at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

Target management immediately advised police and made the decision to close the store.

Our officers are on scene assisting Target in evacuating the store and are awaiting the arrival of a bomb detection K-9 to sweep the store as a precautionary measure.

Harper Woods High School and Chandler Park Academy were releasing students at the time of the threat and the administrations of both schools were advised. Students were allowed to leave the school buildings and advised to stay away from Eastland Center until the situation has been resolved.

Eastland Center remains open and their security staff is working closely with our officers. The nature of the threat was non-specific and at this time we do not have any other credible information to substantiate the threat. We anticipate the Target Store will reopen once the all clear has been given.
