Teachers union to meet with DPS officials as they run out of money to pay teachers

DETROIT (WJBK) - Detroit Public Schools is once again running out of money to pay teachers.

According to a memo sent out Saturday, the district will run out of money at the end of June.

Last month, the state provided nearly $49 million in supplemental funding to pay teachers for a full year. But now, that apparently is not the case. Union president Ivy Bailey said Judge Steven Rhodes informed her of this Saturday.

Bailey said she hopes to meet with DPS officials on Monday to discuss the situation.
