Teen found dead in doorway on Detroit's east side

A 19-year-old was found dead in the doorway of a home on Detroit's east side overnight. Police say he died of a gunshot wound, but aren't sure of the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Police were called to the home in the 8100 block of Outer Drive around 3 a.m. Thursday. Four other people were at the home at the time of the shooting.

Police say they have been talking to the witnesses, who at first indicated the shooting was an accident and that they may have been playing some sort of game with the weapon. However, police now are saying their stories don't line up and authorities are not confident in calling the shooting an accident.

The relationship between the victim and the witnesses is not known at this time, but police say they were all in the same age group. The witnesses have not been named as suspects, nor are they under arrest at this time.
