Teen girl fights off abduction attempt, sex assault in St. Clair Shores

Stranger danger in St. Clair Shores. A mysterious man tried to grab and pull a female high school student into his truck.

Take a close look at this home security surveillance tape, police are calling this man a person of interest in an attempted abduction case.

At about 7 a.m. Monday, investigators say a 16-year-old girl was walking to Lakeview High School when a man forced her into his dark colored Dodge Ram pick-up truck, drove away and began to sexually assault her.

It happened on Cubberness and Statler, near 10 Mile and Little Mack. Police say somehow the teenager was able to get out of the truck and run for help.

"It's very concerning especially in our community, we have a safe community," said Det. James Brueckman, St. Clair Shores police. "Our top priority is to get this suspect off the streets."

Detectives say around the time of the attack, they received calls reporting car break-ins, in the same area. this video is from two hours before the attempted abduction.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, 140 pounds and clean shaven. The victim says he has short dreadlocks or braids, a dark hoody, dark sweatpants, and a Seattle Seahawks winter hat.

Police say the victim's belongs were found a few miles away.

"We're going to trying to see if there is any DNA evidence or finger print evidence," Brueckman said.
