A Taylor home was targeted by thieves but they weren't after typical valuables.

Instead they grabbed the homeowner's Star Shower Laser Light display. They were stolen Saturday at midnight.

The most popular Christmas decorations this year - Star Shower Laser Lights.

"They are a pretty popular item," said Ron Brumbaugh of Taylor. "You can't buy them anywhere in stores, they are sold out online."

FOX 2 tried calling at least for local retailers and no luck.  Maybe that's why these laser lights are disappearing left and right.

The stolen light displays are not just a local problem.

"It's happening all over the country, now that these new decorations have come out," said Police Chief Mary Sclabassi. "They are pulling them right out of the ground. It's like something out of 'The Grinch That Stole Christmas.'"

The lights go for $40 to $100 bucks or more.  They're easy to install, just stick them in the ground, and plug them in - and- instant Christmas.

Ron bought the Star shower laser lights about two weeks ago online. He had four lasers, two in the front and two on the side, which made his house, look beautiful.

"I light up my house," Ron said. "It is for my son and for the grandkids."

"People need to remember it is a crime as well," Sclabassi said. "They can be charged for larceny."
