Timeline for incoming snow storm for metro Detroit
We hope you've stocked up on the ice melt, shovels, fuel for your snow blower, or any other essential needs because another snow storm is coming through southeast Michigan.
Thursday and Friday have been brutally cold with periods of flurries. But that changes Friday evening when another snow system comes through, dumping several more inches of snow on top of what we already have.
A winter weather advisory begins at 7:00 p.m. Friday and we're expecting the snow to be steady overnight.
The snow will start during the evening rush hour. It will be light snow between 5:00 and 7:00 Friday evening and by the time you're tucked into your bed for a long winter's nap, the snow intensity will begin picking up.
By 8 pm, you'll have less than half of an inch of new snow. Around 1:00 a.m., it will be up to almost two inches and by 8 am Saturday, you're looking at almost 4 inches of snow for metro Detroit.
Farther north, you could see up to 5 or 6 inches in places.

At that point, a warm front will move through and creates a rain and snow mix. The mixed precipitation will cut into our snow totals but will also make for a very sloppy slushy day on Saturday.
The exact placement is what we're concerned the most about. Right now, it looks like it will track right over southeast Michigan.
Saturday evening though, we freeze again and are expecting a bit more snow to fall Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
