A tornado was reported touching down in La Salle as pictures and videos appeared across social media Wednesday night.
Weather Authority Rich Luterman said that the storm quickly originated over the Detroit River.
Reports of damage have surfaced in La Salle, which is located to the south of Windsor, west of Wyandotte, in Essex County. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
Among the areas people reported being hit was along Walker Road at the EC Row expressway. The storms hit at about 7:10 p.m. witnesses told the Windsor Star. Trees are down around the area as crews are experiencing downed trees and damage.
Heavy storms reported in Ohio with a pattern of tornado warnings across much of the state - including the northern section bordering Michigan. Around 8:40 p.m. the warning for Toledo was canceled.
Gene Simmons tweeted that a show he was playing was canceled due to the "tornado right over our heads."
