Truck barrels into house in the middle of the night in Farmington Hills

Police have arrested a driver who is suspected of crashing into a home in Farmington Hills early Wednesday morning.

A homeowner in the 27600 block of Shiawassee Street had a rude awakening around 4:30 a.m. when the driver of a Ford pickup truck came barreling through the front window. That's in a neighborhood in the 9 Mile and Inkster area.

"I don't know what happened. Just a loud bang. I can't describe that noise; it was so loud," says Perry Delikta. "What do you think when you're waking up from a dead sleep, hear this happening and you walk out and all you see is these lights going, the truck's running, the house is filling up with carbon monoxide? I didn't know what to think."

Delikta says the driver got out of the car and took off. Police say they tracked the suspect down a couple hours later at a home a couple blocks away from the accident scene. He's in custody right now.

Delikta's wife was in the house with him, but no one was hurt. Their family dog is fine, too.

It's not known right now what caused this crash, or if alcohol or speed may have been a factor.
