Trump protest held in Troy outside Michigan Republican meeting

The president's supporters gathered at a Michigan Republican meeting in Troy and were met by protesters.

There were no incidents Tuesday at a peaceful protest and chances are it won't be the last.

Dozens of protesters gathered outside to denounce President Donald Trump and the dozens who met to support him at the American Polish Cultural Center in Troy.

"I don't think they even know what they're protesting," said Lisa Gustin, a Trump supporter. "It's a meeting. They're protesting a meeting right now."

The Metro Detroit Political Action Network organized the demonstration. Members and sympathizers have been to several Michigan Trump Republican meetings questioned the legitimacy of Trump's election.

The majority of Americans didn't vote for Donald Trump," said protester Bruce Fealk.

And Trump's policies.

"It is on a whole host of issues," he said. "It is immigration, whether it is taxes, health care, and today they are still trying to take away health care from over 20 million people."

Troy police stayed close to protesters during their demonstration. Inside, Trump supporters were seemingly unfazed as they promoted senate and congressional candidates and set their sights on a re-election campaign in 2020.

The Michigan Trump Republicans will meet in Highland next week. It's likely that protesters will be there too.
