Sterling Heights police said a boy was attacked by a man dressed as a clown in Sterling Heights Tuesday night.

The boy said the clown placed a sharp instrument he called a knife to his arm at the Sterling Heights Estates mobile home park at about 6:45 p.m., police say.

The boy suffered a scrape on his arm in the incident, but it is unclear if it happened from the clown or when he pulled away. Police say the boy called the instrument used a knife, but are unsure if it was.

"There was a clown running to me and had a knife," Justin said. "He dragged it on my arm. And he was doing it slowly. I said stop it and yanked my arm away from it and he ran away."

In a second, unrelated incident at 8:20 p.m. police say two women were approached by three men dressed as clowns at Lowell and Boulder streets. The men, all wearing clown masks were holding baseball bats, jumping out and started swinging at the women.

Police say they are taking both incidents seriously.

FOX 2 reported the creepy clown phenomenon has been reported in Clinton Township and in the Waterford-Pontiac area recently.
